Smokey Hollow Farm is dedicated to providing quality full service boarding in the Landrum/ Tryon area.  We offer training and lessons for pleasure, dressage, eventing, and hunter/ jumper horses and riders.  We  also specialize in retirement/ semi-retirement and rehab board for horses needing an individualized retirement and/ or rehab program.   Your horse will be loved and cared for  by a professional with over 30 years of horse care and training experience so that each horse can thrive.

  Our training program focuses on adults at all levels who are looking to build their confidence and partnership with their horses.  Trainer Cathy Schwartz provides training and instruction for horses and riders at her farm, and will travel teach clinics, students, or train their horses as time allows.   Smokey Hollow Farm's horses and students attend horse shows and events in the region.  Cathy has trained extensively with top event, dressage, and hunter/ jumper trainers, bringing a depth of knowledge and a perceptive approach to training each horse and rider.   Cathy is also available for judging of hunter/ jumper shows.

I use a soft, tactful feel when working with horses of any levels.  I have successfully ridden and worked with a huge range of horses, everything from 3 year olds plucked out of a field in Canada that have never been handled, to sensitive and high strung off the track thoroughbreds, to experienced 4' Jumpers, to Grand Prix Dressage horses, and everything in between. My students have excelled in and out of the show ring."
